Description
Lingwood House is a timber-framed and plastered house that was re-fronted in red brick in the 18th century. It has two storeys, attics, and cellars. The front of the house is divided into two bays by brick pilasters that have moulded caps and bases. The eastern part features a range of two windows, while the western part has a range of three windows. The central part, which has one window, slightly projects forward. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars, set in flush cased frames. There is an eight-panel door with a wood doorcase that includes panelled reveals, fluted pilasters, a pulvinated frieze, and a modillion pediment. Steps lead up to the door. The roof is tiled and has two hipped dormer windows on the western bay of the front. The interior has been significantly altered but retains exposed beams and some 18th-century panelling. Lingwood House, along with The Chantry and Nos 58 and 60 The Griffin Inn, forms a group.
