Description

The White Hart Public House is a building dating from around 1500, which has undergone alterations in the 17th, 19th, and 20th centuries. Originally a hotel, it is now a public house. The structure is timber framed and plastered, with some areas of exposed framing that may be imitation. The roof is covered with handmade red clay tiles.

The main section of the building is a three-bay range oriented northwest to southeast, with a northeast aspect and an internal chimney stack at the southeast end. There are two crosswings, with the northwest wing also featuring an internal chimney stack. The building has 19th-century extensions at the rear and 20th-century single-storey flat-roofed extensions on the northwest and southeast sides.

It stands two storeys tall, with the main range and the northwest crosswing having jettied sections. The entrance features a 20th-century door, and there are three late 19th-century splayed bays with double-hung sash windows, each consisting of four lights. On the first floor, there are five 20th-century casement windows.

The chimney stack in the main range has four octagonal shafts with moulded bases, while the chimney stack in the northwest wing has three octagonal shafts with plain bases. Inside, the building showcases jowled posts, chamfered beams with step stops, and exposed plain joists that are horizontally sectioned.
