Description

Cooksferry Farmhouse is a house from the mid-17th century that has been extended in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. It features a timber frame that is plastered and partly bricked, with a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The building consists of three bays with a chimney stack located in the middle bay, oriented north-south. Originally, there was a lobby entrance on the west side, which is now blocked. There is a single-storey rear wing from the north bay that dates to the 18th century. A large 19th-century extension is located to the southwest, consisting of two parallel ranges made of flint and brick, with a lean-to extension that has a slated roof in between. Additionally, there is a single-storey extension to the north from the 20th century. The farmhouse is two storeys tall. The west and north elevations of the original house are made of painted brick in English bond. The entrance features a 20th-century door and two 19th-century double-hung sash windows with eight lights. On the first floor, there are two 20th-century casement windows. Inside, the house has face-halved and bladed scarfs in both wall plates, along with chamfered beams that have lamb's tongue stops above all four rooms.
