Description

Potter’s Hall is a house, dating to the early 17th century or earlier, with extensions added in the 18th and 20th centuries. It is timber-framed and plastered, with roofs of handmade red clay tiles and slate. The original design comprised a two-bay wing aligned northwest-southeast, now used as a garage with a bedroom above, likely dating to the early 17th century or even earlier. An 18th-century extension was built to the northeast, featuring one axial chimney stack and an external stack at the northeast gable end. A single-storey lean-to extension is attached to the southeast. The house is single-storey with attics, and two storeys in height. The southeast elevation includes a metal garage door, two 20th-century casement windows, and a glazed conservatory topped with a lean-to roof of handmade red clay tiles. Four 20th-century casement windows are on the first floor. Inside the southwest wing, there is heavy studding with arched bracing turned inward, a chamfered beam with lamb's stops and plain horizontal joists. The northeast wing displays a main frame of pegged construction, with lighter studding.
