Description

The building is a village lock-up, dating from around 1819. It is a small structure made of red brick, topped with a gabled red tiled roof. The lock-up features a vertically boarded oak door that has three vertical rows of circular ventilator holes, with a metal grill behind it. This is one of the very few remaining lock-ups in Essex.
