Description

No. 5 (Jasmine Cottage) and No. 6 are a pair of cottages located on The Causeway in Finchlingfield. They were built in the 18th century, extended in the 19th century, and altered in the 20th century. The cottages are timber framed and plastered, with a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. They have four bays facing west and a central stack, with an additional bay added to the right in the 19th century. There are single-storey rear extensions and a 20th-century external stack at the left end.

No. 5, on the right, features three Gothic Revival casements and three 20th-century casements in gabled dormers. It has two plain boarded doors, one of which has a shallow gabled porch, while the other is disused. No. 6, on the left, has two 20th-century casements and one more in a gabled dormer, along with a plain boarded door. The cottages are listed for their group value.
