Description

Mill Barn is a former barn dating from around 1600, located in Finchingfield. It is a timber-framed structure with weatherboard cladding and a corrugated asbestos roof. The barn comprises five bays aligned east-west, featuring a midstrey (a small building for hay storage) to the south of the second bay from the east end. A lean-to extension is attached to the east of the midstrey, and a further extension is located at the east end. The barn retains original features including jowled posts, heavy studding, arched braces to the tiebeams, and a clasped purlin roof with curved wind-bracing.
