Description
Nos. 68 and 70, known as Jarmans, are two cottages located on Bridge Street, dating from the 17th century or earlier and the 18th century, with renovations from the 20th century. The cottages are timber-framed and plastered, with No. 68 featuring a pebble dashed finish. They have thatched roofs, with an end stack on No. 68 and an end stack to the south of No. 70. The main range is one storey with an attic, while a later cottage to the south has a gable end lean-to, and there is a single storey range to the north. The front features two boarded doors, one of which is located to the right in a 20th-century closed porch. There are eight ground floor 20th-century casement windows, two large 20th-century casement dormer windows, and one eyebrow dormer window. Inside, the cottages showcase exposed substantial timber framing with straight bracing, stop-chamfered ceiling beams, and floor joists, as well as a relined open hearth.
