Description
Folly Cottage is a cottage that dates from the late medieval period, with rebuilding and extensions from the late 17th century, and renovations in the 20th century. It features a timber-framed and plastered structure with a thatched roof that is half hipped on the right side. The cottage is single storey with an open hall and one storey and attic end bays. It has a three-unit plan with a lobby entry leading to an inserted stack that contains two hearths. The entrance has a boarded door, and there are seven casement windows of various sizes, all with glazing bars. The ridge stack has been rebuilt. Inside, the cottage showcases exposed timber framing and floor frames, including some reused timbers. The end bays have side purlin roofs, while the hall roof is plaster ceiled.
