Description

Chestnut Tree Farmhouse is a house with origins dating back to the late medieval period, significantly altered in the late 17th and 18th centuries, with a 20th-century extension. It is timber-framed with plastered infill and rendered, painted brick, and has plain tiled roofs, with a half-hipped front elevation to the cross-wing. The house is one storey and attic, comprising a main range, formerly an open hall, and a cross-wing to the west. A 19th-century side stack is present on the cross-wing, alongside an 18th-century ridge stack and a 20th-century addition. The main entrance is located on the side elevation of the cross-wing. The windows include two ground-floor casement windows, one 20th-century window, one attic casement window, and two gabled dormer windows. The interior reveals an exposed timber frame with some reused timbers, and an 18th-century open hearth featuring niches and a mantel beam.
