Description
No 100 Newland Street is a building originally constructed in the 16th century as a timber-framed and plastered house, which was refronted and altered in the 18th century. The house retains parts of its original 16th-century frame. The front is made of red brick, featuring a parapet with a stone coping and a plinth. It stands three storeys high with cellars and has a seven-window range, consisting of double-hung sashes with glazing bars set in cased frames. The central section, which has a two-window range, projects slightly forward. A moulded brick band runs between the ground and first storeys. The entrance features a six-panel door with a wooden doorcase that includes pilasters and a cornice hood supported by paired brackets. The roof is tiled. At the north-east end, there is a wing that has part of a plaster coved eaves cornice at the rear.
