Description

This is an 1841 house, consisting of two tenements, located on the south-east side of Newland Street. It is constructed with red and blue brick and stands three storeys high with basements. The front of the building has a 10-window arrangement, featuring double-hung sash windows with glazing bars set within cased frames. Raised brick bands delineate the storeys. Each tenement has a central six-panel door, approached by stone steps and enclosed by a wooden doorcase, which features fluted pilasters and a dentilled pediment. The basement area of number 117 is protected by iron railings, while the basement area of number 119 has been paved over. The interior of number 119 retains original panelling and a number of good original fireplaces. The roof is tiled and hipped. The building forms a group with numbers 117 to 129 (odd), number 118, and numbers 124 to 128 (even).
