Description

Woodlands Cottage is a cottage dating from the 18th or 19th century, with extensions added in the 20th century. It features a timber frame and clay lump construction, with a plastered exterior and a front elevation made of red brick in Flemish bond. The thatched roof is aligned approximately east-west and includes one axial chimney stack. To the north, there is a lean-to extension with a catslide roof and a flat-roofed extension. The cottage is linked at the northeast corner to a 20th-century house. It is a single-storey building with attics, and the south elevation is faced with mostly 19th-century red brick, which was renewed in the 20th century at the western end. The cottage has four 20th-century casement windows and two flat-roofed dormers that contain late 19th or early 20th-century casement windows. The eastern end of the roof is half-hipped. Inside, there is a large wood-burning hearth facing east and a plain axial beam.
