Description
Reaper's Croft is a cottage that dates from the 18th century or early 19th century, with extensions added in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is timber-framed and plastered, featuring a thatched roof. The building has a rectangular plan facing south, with an external stack at the right end. To the left, there is a 19th-century extension that also has an external stack, and a 20th-century lean-to extension at the rear of this extension, which is roofed with felt. On the right side, there is a 20th-century extension that encloses the original stack and has a hipped roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The cottage is one storey high.
All windows are 20th-century casements with diamond leading, and all except the right window have plain external shutters. The entrance door is recessed in the right extension. Inside, the structure features unjowled posts, and the rear wallplate has a simple splayed scarf near the left end, which is bolted. The primary bracing is straight, and the main posts are tenoned and pegged to the wallplates, with the studs nailed and spaced about 0.45 meters apart. There is a 20th-century grate on the right, and a 20th-century ceiling has been installed below the original plastered ceiling. The roof has side purlins.
