Description

This is a pump dating from the 18th century, located against the east side of the rear wing of No. 6 East Street in Coggeshall. It is made of lead and wrought iron, housed in a wooden case. The pump features a plain handle and a twisted iron stay leading to the spout, although the bucket hook is broken. The cistern is decorated with embossed scrolls and paterae. The front panels of the case, both above and below the cistern, are missing, but the pump is otherwise complete.
