Description
This is a barn located approximately 30 metres north of Yew Tree Farmhouse, built around 1600 and altered in the early 19th century. It features a timber frame, is weatherboarded, and has a slate roof. The barn consists of four bays that are aligned approximately northwest to southeast, with an aisle on the northeast side. There is an entrance in the southwest, located in the second bay from the southeast end, which dates from the 19th century. At the southeast end, there is a lean-to shed made of red and blue bricks with a roof of red clay pantiles. The barn has jowled posts, arched braces supporting the tiebeams and arcade plate, and heavy studding with arched braces that are trenched inside. The face-halved and bladed scarfs are also notable features. The northeast wall has been raised, and the roof has been rebuilt above the tiebeam level to accommodate a reduced pitch for the slate roof.
