Description

Spiders is a small house dating from the 18th century, with extensions added in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is timber framed and plastered, topped with a thatched roof. It has three bays oriented east-west, featuring a central chimney stack. To the east, there is a single-storey extension with a gambrel roof from the 18th or 19th century. A single-storey extension with a slate roof to the south dates from the 19th century, and another extension with a flat roof was added in the 20th century. The house has two storeys and includes four 20th-century casement windows on the ground floor, along with two more in gabled half-dormers. Inside, the house showcases exposed framing, primary straight bracing, and axial beams. The owners possess documentary evidence indicating that the house was rebuilt after a fire in 1718.
