Description

This is a range of four cottages located on The Street, White Notley, dated around 1714 as indicated by a central circular plaque. The cottages are timber-framed and have plastered walls with some decorative pargeting. They have a red plain tiled roof and three red brick chimney stacks. Two gabled dormers are visible. The cottages are two storeys high with attics, and feature a four-window front with a mix of casement and vertically sliding sash windows. Steps lead to the four main entrances, which are mainly boarded and have small windows. Pentice boards or slanting canopies, supported by brackets, shelter the doors. A single-storey extension is attached to the left-hand side.
