Description
The Vicarage is a house with origins dating back to the 16th century, although it was significantly altered in the 18th and 19th centuries. The original section is a crosswing from the 16th century, with a central range dating to the 18th century and a left crosswing added in the 19th century. The house is primarily timber-framed with plaster rendering. It has red-tiled roofs, with a hip shape to the central bay and decorative bargeboards to the gables. Four gault brick chimney stacks are visible. The facade has a 1:2:1 window arrangement, featuring mainly small-paned vertically sliding sash windows. Some windows have glazed side margins to the two-storey bay, which is distinguished by a central band. A porch is located to the left of the right crosswing, featuring square columns with moulded capitals and bases, a moulded frieze, and a flat, now glazed, canopy. Inside, there are two 19th-century moulded fireplace surrounds with hand-painted tiles, an arched landing doorway, and a stick staircase with a wreathed baluster rail extending to the landing. Original glass remains in the 18th-century windows.
