Description
Stonehouse Farmhouse is a house that dates back to the 16th century or earlier, with later additions and alterations. It features a timber frame that is plastered, and has red plain tiled roofs. The structure includes a two-storey gabled crosswing on the left and a one-storey main range with an attic that has a gabled dormer. There are red brick chimney stacks serving both the crosswing and the main range. The crosswing has one range of early 19th-century small paned vertical sliding sash windows, while the main range features two 18th-century small paned horizontal sliding sash windows. The dormer has a 19th-century casement window. A red plain tiled slanting porch with a scalloped eaves board leads to a 20th-century panelled door with a light. Inside, the farmhouse contains a 16th-century Inglenook fireplace with a chamfered mantel beam above it, as well as stop-chamfered bridging joists. The interior also features 18th-century vertical boarded panelling with beaded edging in the hall and other rooms, stick balusters on the staircase, and a raised roof in the west bays.
