Description

Parks Farm is a house dating from the 15th century or earlier. It is timber-framed with panel parget plastering. The roofs are covered in red plain tiles. The house has a central red brick octagonal chimney stack, and an external red brick stack with three octagonal shafts to the right. The layout is an H-shape, featuring a gabled crosswing and a double range with jettied wings to the left. The house has two storeys and attics. There is a gabled dormer to the central hall and oval windows to each gable. The first floor has a 1:1:1 window arrangement, while the ground floor has a 2:2:1 window arrangement, with a variety of small-paned casements and 18th-century small-paned vertical sliding sashes. A 17th-century two-light window is present in the hall. A gabled dormer is also visible to the return of the right crosswing. The entrance is a four-panel door with moulded pilasters, a moulded frieze, and double brackets supporting a flat canopy. Internally, much exposed timber and original brick fireplaces are present, and the house is said to contain original screens and doorways.
