7/3 Barn 60 metres west of 25.11.83 Great Priory Farmhouse

Barn. C13, reconstructed in C17. Timber framed, plastered and weatherboarded, roof thatched with some red clay tiles. 5 bays aligned NW-SE with 2 aisles, and midstreys on both sides. Gambrel roof, half-hipped. Half-hipped midstreys. Unjowled posts. Trenches for passing braces in arcade posts. Some reversed assembly in aisles. Face-halved and bladed scarfs in arcade plates. Arched braces to arcade plates and tiebeams, some of the latter replaced by bolted knees. Collars with arched braces, and high clasped purlins. RCHM 4.
