Description
This is a barn located 60 metres west of Great Priory Farmhouse, dating from the 13th century and reconstructed in the 17th century. It is timber framed, with a plastered and weatherboarded exterior, and features a thatched roof with some red clay tiles. The barn has five bays aligned northwest to southeast, with two aisles and midstreys on both sides. It has a gambrel roof that is half-hipped, along with half-hipped midstreys. The structure includes unjowled posts and trenches for passing braces in the arcade posts, with some reversed assembly in the aisles. The arcade plates feature face-halved and bladed scarfs, and there are arched braces to the arcade plates and tiebeams, some of which have been replaced by bolted knees. The collars are supported by arched braces, and it has high clasped purlins.
