Description
North Lodge is a lodge cottage built around 1838. It is constructed of red brick with moulded brickwork and features a red plain tiled roof. The building has left and center red brick chimney stacks with moulded bases and capping. To the left, there is a two-storey gabled crosswing, while the right side consists of a one-storey range with attics. A central band of moulded brickwork runs from left to right, leading to an enclosed gabled porch at the center of the right range, which also has a moulded brick band above it. The right range features an eaves band of cinquefoil moulding, and both the crosswing and porch gables have moulded cornices, along with a right parapet verge. A moulded band on the crosswing gable extends over a segmental-headed first-floor window. Above this band, there is a stone panel on the porch gable with a central stone shield. The ground floor has a 3:1 window range, with all windows featuring panes of leaded colored glass and segmental heads. The doorway has a moulded segmental arch and a vertically boarded door. North Lodge and its attached walls are part of the stable complex listed separately. It was originally built as a dwelling house and school for the village.
