Description
Holly Cottage is a cottage dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, with later alterations. It is timber-framed and plastered, with a red plain tiled roof and a red brick chimney stack on the left side. The cottage has two storeys and attics, as well as a cellar. It has two windows, which are diamond-leaded casements. An attic window is located on the right return. The central door is vertically boarded and set in a moulded surround, with a cast iron trellis porch featuring an ornate cornice. A wing extends from the rear.
The cottage has two bays and features jowled storey posts and arched halved bracing to the walls. The roof is a side purlin construction. Original attic floor boards remain. A fireplace with an inglenook is present. There is an 18th or 19th century painted brick cellar. An original 17th-century window, complete with its original ironmongery, is still in place.
