Description
Numbers 1 and 2, known as Sparrows, are a block of cottages located on the south side of High Street in Wethersfield. They were built in the early 19th century and feature red brick in Flemish bond with plaster dressings, topped with a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The cottages have a rectangular plan facing northwest and include four internal rear stacks. Behind number 2, there is a single-storey lean-to extension with a slate roof. The structure stands three storeys high and has a four-window range of early 19th-century sash windows with 16 lights, each adorned with plastered flat arches above the ground-floor and first-floor windows. There are two slightly recessed four-panel flush doors with plastered jambs and semicircular arches, along with one blocked doorway that has a segmental brick arch. The roof is hipped.
