Description

This is a row of five cottages located on the south side of High Street, Downton, built in the late 18th century. The cottages are constructed of Flemish bond brick, with a tiled roof and brick stacks. They are two storeys high and feature eleven windows across the front. Each cottage has a four-panelled door, and the ground-floor windows are 4-pane sashes set within moulded, flush architraves. The first floor also has eleven 4-pane sashes. A three-brick plat band incorporates a middle course of vitrified bricks. Dentilled eaves run along the top of the building. The roof is punctuated by six gabled dormers, each containing a 2-light casement window. The left return side of the row has no windows and features a half-hipped gable. The rear of the cottages includes lateral brick stacks, 20th-century windows, and small extensions. The interiors have not been inspected.
