Description
This is a wood monument located approximately 30 metres north-east of All Saints Church in Terling, dating from the early 19th century. It is made of limestone and measures 1.25 metres square with recessed angles. The monument features a moulded plinth and an ogee head that supports a draped urn with a foliate bowl and a Greek key border. Each side has a rectangular panel with shells at the corners and a guilloche band above. The northwest side bears an inscription for Jane Wood, who died in 1809, and her husband Thomas, who died in 1831. The southeast side is dedicated to their son John, who died in 1821. The southwest side commemorates their daughter Mary Anne, who died in 1842, and their son Thomas, who died in 1840. The overall height of the monument is 2.20 metres.
