Description

Nos. 119-123 on Kynaston Road is a house that has been divided and extended to form three cottages. It dates from the early 17th century and has been altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is timber framed and roughcast, with a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. It has four bays facing northeast, with 19th-century extensions at both ends. There are three axial stacks and an external stack at the left end. Small 20th-century extensions have been added to the rear of no. 123 and to the left of no. 119. Nos. 119 and 123 have been extended forward in the 20th century, featuring catslide roofs. The building is one storey with attics. No. 119 has four 20th-century casements on the ground floor and a 20th-century door. No. 121 has three 20th-century casements on the ground floor and one more in a gabled dormer, along with a 20th-century door. No. 123 has three 20th-century casements and one more in a gabled dormer, plus a 20th-century door. The original house, which includes nos. 121 and 123, features jowled posts, arched bracing trenched inside close studding, and chamfered axial beams. The central stack of no. 123 was originally an external stack and was rebuilt in the 19th century above the first-floor level. The other stacks are from the 19th century, with some bricks reused from the 16th century. The roof has clasped purlins.
