Description

Hope Cottage is an 18th-century cottage located on the north-west side of High Street in Great Bardfield. The building is timber framed and plastered, with a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. It features two bays facing southeast, a rear stack, and a rear extension. The cottage has one storey with attics and includes two three-light windows, each with one 18th-century wrought iron casement that has been altered. There are also two 20th-century casements in swept dormers and a 20th-century door. The roof is gambrel in style and half-hipped at the right end. The cottage is incorrectly marked as no. 2 on the Ordnance Survey map as Hope Cottages.
