Description

Claypits Cottage is an 18th-century cottage located on the north-west side of High Street, Great Bardfield. It was incorrectly shown on Ordnance Survey maps as number 1, Hope Cottages. The cottage is timber-framed with plaster infill and a roof of handmade red clay tiles. It has two bays facing southeast, with internal end stacks. A rear extension provides a single storey with attics. The front features a two-window range of 20th-century casement windows with imitation diamond leading; the upper windows are set in swept dormers. A 20th-century gabled porch covers the front door.
