Description
Ryes Hall is a house dating from the 17th century, which incorporates parts of an earlier building and underwent extensive alterations in the early 19th century. It features a timber frame with plaster and some rendered brickwork, topped by a hipped roof covered in red plain tiles. The house has an L-shaped plan and is two storeys high.
The west front has a three-window range of early 19th-century vertical sliding sash windows, complete with side lights and glazing bars. There is a central doorcase that features a flat canopy supported by double brackets, along with a frieze, moulded architraves, and panelled reveals. The north front displays a variety of windows, including some 17th-century leaded casements. The building also has 19th-century red brick chimney stacks and is located on a former moated site.
