Description

Applecroft Farmhouse is a 16th-century or earlier farmhouse with alterations from the mid 19th century. It is timber framed and largely clad in 19th-century flintwork, with quoins and dressings of gault brick. The gabled roof is covered in clay peg tiles. The house has a ‘T’ shape and two storeys, with a crosswing at the east end. It features 19th-century casement windows with varying patterns of glazing bars, set beneath segmental brick arches. A 20th-century single-storey extension of red brick with a lean-to roof is located on the north side. There's a ridge stack over the west gable, and an off-centre ridgeline stack on the crosswing. The crosswing is a three-bay structure with heavy timber framing, featuring double ogee chamfer mouldings on the bridging joist. The interior reveals jowled posts, straight bracing, and remnants of a late 16th-century roof, incorporating Jacobean carved timbers used as collars.
