Description

Grove Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the 16th, 17th, and early 19th centuries. It features a combination of timber framing and plaster, as well as painted brick with peg tile roofs. The building has a complex layout, with a square two-storey block from the early 19th century at the north end. This block has a hipped 'U' plan and a hipped peg tile roof that ends with a half hip on its southwest corner. To the south, there is a long two-storey range from the 17th century, which has a gabled roof and a large ridge line stack. Behind this range is a short parallel block, also two storeys high, with a gable facing west. Additionally, there are two single-storey brick outbuildings with peg tile roofs.

The main east front of the early 19th-century block features a wide eaves overhang and a three-window range of double-hung sash windows with small panes. There is a central projecting porch supported by thin Doric columns, which contains the original six-panel door set within a moulded architrave surround. Part of the centre of the long range includes a two-storey structure from the 16th century, which is floored and has heavy timber framing that is exposed on the interior. There is also a walled garden linked to the west side of the farmhouse, with its north wall displaying a 'crinkle crankle' form.
