Description
Lodge Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to the early 17th century, with extensions from the late 17th century, a refronting in the early 18th century, and alterations in the early 19th century. The building features a timber-frame structure with painted brick infill, and it is topped with a hipped tile roof. The layout is U-shaped, with gable-end stacks on the front range.
The east front of the farmhouse has two storeys and is topped with a plain parapet above a dentilled brick cornice. There are three windows with painted wedge lintels, consisting of two 3-light casements flanking a 2-light casement. This window arrangement replaces five blocked windows that were previously under rubbed brick heads. On the ground floor, there are two 3-light casements that have replaced six earlier windows. The central entrance features a pilastered wooden doorcase with an open pediment, a radially glazed fanlight, and a 6-panel door.
The framing of the farmhouse is exposed on the rear wings. The north wing is the earlier section and has close-studding with a mid-rail to the first floor, while the south wing consists of four square panels high with straight tension braces.
