Description
This barn, located approximately 40 meters northeast of Whitelands Farmhouse, dates from the early 18th century. It is timber framed and covered with weatherboarding, topped with a roof of red clay 'Roman' tiles. The structure consists of five bays arranged roughly northwest to southeast, featuring an original midstrey on the northeast side. The frame is constructed with pegged hardwood, joggled girts, primary straight bracing, face-halved and bladed scarfs in the wallplate, and arched braces to the tiebeams. The middle tiebeams serve as the wallplates for the midstrey. The foundations and lead weathering for the original lean-tos on each side of the midstrey have been demolished.
