Description

This barn, located approximately 30 metres east of Sparrows Farmhouse, dates from the early 17th century. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, topped with a thatched roof. The structure consists of five bays aligned north to south, featuring a midstrey on the southwest side. There are open lean-to shelters on each side of the midstrey, which are roofed with red clay 'Roman' tiles. Notable architectural details include jowled posts, heavy studding, primary straight bracing, face-halved and bladed scarfs in the wallplates, and a butt-purlin roof.
