Description
This is a barn located 20 metres northeast of Whiteshill Farmhouse, dating from the 18th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and weatherboarding, featuring a base wall made of red brick in English bond. The roof is covered with corrugated asbestos. The barn has eight bays aligned north to south, with two midstreys to the west. To the north of the northern midstrey, there is an open lean-to shelter with a roof made of red clay pantiles. To the south of the southern midstrey, there is a closed lean-to that is weatherboarded and roofed with corrugated iron. The north end of the barn has large vehicle doors added in the 20th century. The base wall is approximately one metre high. The main frame is pegged, with primary straight bracing, bolted knees to the straight tiebeams, face-halved and bladed scarfs, and a clasped purlin roof with tile battens.
