Description
Park House is a house built in the early 18th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. It is constructed from gault brick in Flemish bond and has a slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan facing northeast and features one axial stack, one internal stack at the left end, and one rear stack at the right end. It is two storeys tall, with attics and a cellar.
The façade includes a five-window range of early 19th-century sash windows with 12 lights, shallow segmental arches, and some crown glass. The central entrance has a flush six-panel door with an overlight featuring geometrical tracery, and it is sheltered by a Tuscan portico with two stone steps. The roof is hipped with a shallow pitch.
The left return of the house has similar windows, one of which opens below the sill to function as a door. The right return also has similar windows, including an 18th-century window with wrought iron casement, moulded mullions, and saddle bars. Inside, there is an early 19th-century staircase with stick balusters and a wreathed handrail, likely made of walnut, which extends to the attic storey. The interior features shutters, doors, borrowed lights, and other elements from the 18th and early 19th centuries. In the right ground floor room, there is an early 19th-century fitted corner cupboard. The floors have been modified to accommodate the current staircase; the front first-floor windows are at floor level and extend above some of the ceilings.
