Description

The Cottage is a late 17th-century cottage located on the south side of Back Lane in Barrington. It is timber-framed with plaster rendering and a reed thatch roof, featuring a red brick ridge stack. The building has a three-bay, lobby-entry plan and one storey with an attic space, incorporating two dormers. It contains three 19th-century casement windows. Inside, abutting inglenook hearths are present, alongside a later bread oven situated to the side of the hearth in the north room. The cottage also retains downward bracing, staggered studwork, and an original staircase leading off the north room.
