Description

Milestone No. 10 is an 18th-century carved limestone block, painted white with black inscriptions. It features a crescent in a shield inscribed with "X MILES To CAMBRIDGE," along with a pointing finger and defaced Roman numerals. This milestone is one of sixteen that were placed along the old Cambridge to London road, established by William Warren between 1727 and 1732 under the bequest of Dr. William Mowse, who was Master of Trinity Hall from 1552 to 1553, for the maintenance of roads in and around Cambridge.
