Description
28 and 30 West Street is a house that was formerly a public house, dating from the mid-17th century, with a crosswing enlargement added around 1800. The building is timber-framed, with roughcast rendering and a tiled roof featuring an original red brick ridge stack that has two flues, along with a string course and capping. The original layout consists of two bays and a lobby entry, and the structure is one storey high with an attic.
There are two mid-20th century dormers and two mid-20th century leaded light casement windows on either side of the doorway leading to the lobby entry. The crosswing is made of painted brick and has a tiled roof with a small grey brick ridge stack. This section is two storeys tall and features two brick bands between the storeys. Each storey has a large pane window with a segmental arch above it. Access to the crosswing is through a doorway located in the main range, which has an early 19th-century flush panelled door.
