Description
The Old Plough is a cottage dating from the mid to late 17th century. It features a timber-framed structure with roughcast render and a long straw thatched roof. The building has an original axial ridge stack, which has been rebuilt at the upper courses, and an end stack that dates from the 19th century. The layout consists of three bays and a lobby entry plan, likely modified in the early 19th century when a second entry was added. The cottage is one storey high with an attic and includes three dormers. There are two doorways, one leading to the lobby entry, both fitted with early 19th-century flush panel doors. The windows consist of four early 19th-century nine-pane hung sashes without shoulders. To the left, there is a later 19th-century addition, which is a single storey, painted structure featuring three similar nine-pane sashes with shoulders. The building stands on a brick plinth with roughcast render over the timber frame or clay bat.
