Description
Millyard is a cottage dating from the early to mid-17th century. It features a timber frame, plaster render, and a reed thatched roof, along with a large red brick ridge stack that has rebuilt upper courses. The building has a hall and crosswing plan, with the crosswing facing the road and the hall range, which contains the central hearth, located at the rear. The crosswing consists of one bay and has one storey with an attic, including one dormer and one casement window. There is an entry in a small 20th-century addition at the front. Inside, the cottage showcases exposed framing with straight bracing in the wall framing. The rear range and the single bay parlour at the front have floor frames with joists laid on edge and stop-chamfered main beams. The inglenook hearths are made of early 17th-century red brick.
