Description

Oakdene Cottage comprises a house and former shop dating to approximately 1830, built in two phases. The walls are clay bat, roughcast rendered on brick sills. The roof is mainly slate, although one end appears to be later and is covered with red pantiles. There are two original grey brick end stacks, one now internal due to a later addition. The property is two storeys high. Number 17 has a symmetrical facade with three original flush frame sixteen-pane sash windows above and two similar windows at ground floor level, positioned either side of the doorway. Number 15 consists of a single bay with a 20th-century window to the first floor, and a projecting shop annexe added in the late 19th century. The shop annexe is similar in style to that of Number 57 West Street. The shop window within the annexe has been replaced.
