Description

Park Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century, with a 17th-century stair turret and 19th-century extensions. It features a plastered timber frame and painted brick, topped with plain tile roofs. The building has two ridge stacks made of local brick, with the upper courses rebuilt. It stands two storeys high and includes cellars and attics, along with a 17th-century stair turret and a 19th-century rear kitchen wing, as well as a lean-to gable extension on the southeast side. The original layout is a three-unit, lobby entry plan. Notable architectural details include a saw tooth brick eaves cornice, four first-floor sixteen-paned hung sash windows, five similar ground-floor windows, and one horizontal sliding sash window. The entrance features a double glazed door with a tented, wire-framed porch.

Inside, the farmhouse has exposed wall frames, some with later brick nogging. The floor frames include stop-chamfered joists with a double ovolo-moulded cornice and a cross-beam located before the hearth. There is one sealed hearth and two inglenook hearths. The early to mid-17th-century closed string stair has short flights leading to the attic floor, with splat balusters and ogival and hollow pendants on square newels; the treads were replaced in the 19th century.
