Description
The Stable Block at Quy Hall is an early 19th-century structure that was refitted internally around 1870. It is built from gault brick and has a slate roof, standing two storeys high. The front of the building faces the stableyard of Quy Hall and features a three-window range of two-light casements, each set under gauged brick flat arches. There is a door located to the centre right, also under a similar arch. The left end of the building has a two-light casement on the first floor, while the right end includes a first-floor loft door with a lean-to dog kennel below, which is enclosed by iron railings. Additionally, there is a further lean-to at the rear. Atop the roof, there is a small cupola with a pyramidal roof and Gothic arches for the louvred openings.
Inside, a passageway leads to wooden caged boxes that feature plank walling and iron upper railings, along with angle mangers and brick floors. The upper floor has not been inspected. This stable block is little altered and is part of a significant group that includes Quy Hall, the coach house, stables, and garden walls associated with Quy Hall.
