Description
Old Victoria Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century, with alterations and additions made around 1700 and in the 19th century. It features a timber-framed and plastered structure topped with a plain tile roof. The left side has a red brick parapet gable, and there is a local 17th-century ridge stack with three shafts and a rebuilt cap. The building is two storeys high; the original house was one storey with an attic but was raised to two storeys and extended to a three-unit plan with a lobby entry around 1700. A 19th-century outshut at the rear includes a dairy and cellar. The main lobby entrance has a panelled door that is accessed by steps. There are three casement windows on the ground floor and three on the first floor, all from the 19th century, featuring cast iron latticed glazing bars. Inside, the farmhouse displays exposed timber framing and stop-chamfered ceiling beams, along with two inglenook hearths, one of which has a sealed baking oven. The farmhouse is located on the edge of the former village green, which was enclosed in 1836. There are also scratchings on the wall of the first-floor bedroom.
