Description
Apple Cottage is a house with origins dating back to the 16th century, which was remodeled around 1700, likely after a fire. It features a timber-framed structure that is plaster rendered, topped with a tiled roof. The ridge stack is primarily made of early 19th century gault brick, though red brick from around 1700 is visible at the base. The house stands two storeys tall and has three small pane casements on the upper floor, with the heads flush with the eaves. The ground floor also has three similar windows and a doorway. Inside, there is a panel inscribed with "MH" and the date 1711, which probably refers to the remodeling. The interior is arranged in four bays with an inserted chimney stack, and it features substantial timbers as well as a blocked three-light window with diamond mullions on the ground floor.
