Description
Old Meeting Baptist Church is a Nonconformist chapel built in 1856 and extended in 1904. It is constructed of gault brick and features a slate roof with end parapets supported by kneelers. The building has a rectangular plan with a gable end facing the road. The principal elevation is pedimented and consists of three round-headed bays framed by paired giant pilasters, arranged in two heights. The pediment is adorned with a border of cut brickwork and has round-headed graduated arches leading to recesses, two of which are glazed. The front stage includes one round-headed window in each bay, while the ground stage has three doorways set in similar double recessed arches, with the center doorway being larger. The side elevations also feature five round-headed bays, each with fixed light fenestration, small panes, original cast iron glazing bars, and central pivot lights. Inside, the original fittings remain intact, with a gallery on three sides and cast iron work leading to the pulpit.
