Description
No. 188 High Street is a villa built around 1850, but it includes fragments of timber framing from a 17th-century house at the rear. The building is constructed of local gault brick and features a hipped slate roof with symmetrical end stacks and reeded, boarded eaves. It stands two storeys tall and has a double-fronted design. The symmetrical elevation displays three mid-20th-century hung sash windows with flush frames set in cambered arches. On either side of the central doorway, there are two recessed original sixteen-pane hung sash windows, also with cambered arches. The doorway features a panelled doorcase with reveals adorned with boss enrichments. Access to the door is via two steps, leading to a later door that retains its original rectangular fanlight with glazing bars.
